Porlock Carnival 2014

Just a week ago today, saw the annual Porlock carnival take to the roads.  We were extremely fortunate with the weather, with a bit of a shower in the morning keeping us slightly nervous, but the sun came through for us!

The pre carnival starts at around 5.30, building up to the main event.  The kids loved the Punch and Judy and the stiltwalkers.  The samba band and the majorettes kept the atmosphere building.

The fire engine rounding the corner lets us know that the procession is coming, and what a great procession it was.  I have never seen so many entries and the effort put into the floats and the costumes was amazing.  The music just kept coming, with a lot of the floats playing different music, plus the samba band really kept the carnival mood going.  Not forgetting the bagpipes and majorettes which were brilliant.

The fun continued after the carnival with food and a kids disco at the village hall whilst we waited for the results.

A fantastic event which really brings the village together. Superb photos from MnD photography can be seen here,
